Sodium Chloride
Dosage form
Solution for injection 18 mg / ml.
Description
A clear, odorless liquid.
Structure
1 ml of solution contains:
Active ingredient: Sodium Chloride 18mg.
Auxiliary components: water for injection.
Pharmacotherapeutic group
Solvent
Pharmacological properties
Sodium and chlorine ions are the most important inorganic components of the extracellular fluid, maintaining the appropriate osmotic pressure of blood plasma and extracellular fluid. An isotonic solution replenishes the lack of fluid in the body during dehydration. Hypertonic sodium chloride solution with intravenous administration provides correction of the osmotic pressure of the extracellular fluid and blood plasma. The local application in ophthalmology eye sodium chloride binds decongestant effect.
Pharmacokinetics
Sodium ions penetrate the placental barrier and into breast milk.
It is excreted by the kidneys (potassium ions - in the distal tubules in exchange for sodium or hydrogen ions), a small amount is excreted in sweat.
Indications for use
Isotonic solution: dehydration of various origins. To maintain blood plasma volume during and after surgery. As a solvent for various preparations.
Hypertonic solution: disorders of water-electrolyte metabolism - deficiency of sodium and chlorine ions; hypoosmolar dehydration of various origins (due to prolonged vomiting, diarrhea, burns; with gastric fistula, pulmonary bleeding, intestinal bleeding).
Method of administration and dosage
Isotonic sodium chloride solution is administered intravenously, subcutaneously and in enemas, and is also used to wash wounds, eyes, and nasal mucosa. It is more often administered intravenously, depending on the clinical situation - up to 3 l / day.
Hypertonic sodium chloride solution is administered intravenously. A single dose for intravenous jet administration may be 10-30 ml. In conditions requiring immediate replenishment of sodium and chlorine ions, the drug is injected intravenously at a dose of 100 ml.
Topically and externally used depending on the used dosage form and treatment regimen.
Side effects
Possibly: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, thirst, lacrimation, sweating, fever, tachycardia, arterial hypertension, impaired renal function, edema, shortness of breath, headache, dizziness, anxiety, weakness, twitching and muscle hypertonicity.
With external and local use, side reactions have not been established to date.
Contraindication
Hypernatremia.

Carefully:
Decompensated chronic heart failure.
Arterial hypertension.
Peripheral edema.
Preeclampsia.
Hroni Cesky renal failure
Aldosteronism and other conditions associated with sodium retention in the body.
Application for impaired renal function
Large volumes of sodium chloride are used with caution in patients with impaired renal excretory function.
Overdose
When sodium chloride solution is used as a solvent for drugs, overdose symptoms depend on the underlying drug.
Precautions
Freezing of the drug is possible provided that the container is tight. Non-wetting of the inner surface of the bottles is not a contraindication to the use of the drug.
Interaction with other medicinal products
When mixed with other drugs, it is necessary to visually check compatibility.
Special instructions
Large volumes of sodium chloride are used with caution in patients with impaired renal excretory function, with hypokalemia. The introduction of large amounts of the solution can lead to chloride acidosis, overhydration, an increase in the excretion of potassium from the body. Hypertonic solution is not used s / c and i / m. With prolonged use, it is necessary to control the concentration of electrolytes in plasma and daily urine output. The temperature of the infusion solution should be 38 ° FROM.
Pregnancy and elbowing
During pregnancy and during breastfeeding, it is possible to use it according to indications in cases where the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and work with mechanisms
Does not affect.
Storage conditions
Store in a dry, dark place at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C, out of the reach of children.
Shelf life
3 years. Do not use after the expiration date printed on the package.
